Split Pane in Terminal (macOS)
Press Command + D to split the window into two panes.
What it does
The window is divided into an upper and a lower pane that show the same session. One pane can stay scrolled back to earlier output while you keep typing in the other. It is a second view of one shell and not a second shell: for two commands at once, open a tab or a window. Close Split Pane in the View menu joins them again.
