Close Tab in Safari (macOS)
Press Command + W to close the current tab.
What it does
Safari closes the tab in front and shows the one next to it. If the window had only that tab, the window closes. The page is not gone for good: the History menu lists the tabs closed recently, and the reopen shortcut brings the last one back. A tab that plays sound shows a speaker icon, which helps to find the right one to close.
