Brush Tool in Photoshop (macOS)
Press B to pick the Brush tool.
What it does
The Brush tool paints with the foreground color on the active layer. Size, hardness and the shape of the tip are set in the options bar, opacity and flow beside them. The Pencil, Color Replacement and Mixer Brush tools share its place in the toolbar. Painting on a new empty layer keeps the picture under it untouched.
