Do these shortcuts work for you?
A large part of Gmail works with single keys, without a modifier. Actions on Messages works on the open or selected conversation: Archive, Reply, Reply All, Forward. Navigation moves through the inbox with Older Conversation and Newer Conversation. In Formatting text every shortcut uses a modifier key.

Tips for Gmail
- Reply in a new window ⇧R, Reply all in a new window ⇧A and Forward in a new window ⇧F use the same letters as Reply R, Reply All A and Forward F, with one modifier added.
- Open Conversation O opens the conversation and Return To List U goes back to the list.
- Show Shortcuts ? opens Gmail’s own shortcut list.
