Extrude in Blender (macOS)

Press E to extrude the selected vertices, edges or faces.

What it does

Extrude makes a copy of the selected part of the mesh, keeps it connected to the original and starts moving it. Extruding a face pushes out a new block of geometry along the direction the face points in. Extruding an edge makes a new face, extruding a vertex a new edge. It works in Edit Mode and builds a shape step by step from a simple one.
